Symptoms of a Malfunctioning HVAC System

Poor Air Flow

Are you seeing an oddly low amount of air coming from your air ducts? If so, you likely need to get your HVAC system serviced. Poor airflow is generally a sign that your air filter or air ducts themselves are clogged. How does this happen, you may ask? Air filters need to be changed once every 20 thousand miles, for they’ll be clogged otherwise. They can only capture so much debris before they’re rendered useless. If debris gets past this filter, it may end up clogging your air ducts and causing further problems.

AC Blows Hot Air

If your AC system is only blowing hot air, we highly recommend bringing your truck in for service as soon as possible. AC units are designed to use refrigerant and a wide array of cooling components to remove heat from the air that enters your passenger compartment. If you're not getting any cold air, either these components failed or your coolant is leaking.

High Passenger Compartment Humidity

Your HVAC system has what’s called an evaporator core. This core is designed to lower the humidity in your passenger compartment, or in other words, eradicate moisture. If you notice that your passenger compartment has significantly higher humidity than normal, this component may be malfunctioning. Sometimes these cores can malfunction due to their inner coils getting clogged with debris. At Blackwater Diesel, we’ll clean, repair, and even replace your evaporator core if necessary.
