Every engine within your heavy-duty fleet trucks has what’s called a head gasket. This head gasket essentially splits your engine in half, with each half being referred to as either a cylinder block or cylinder head. Not only does this head gasket allow access to your engine’s inner components, but it also lets the engine expand and contract at different temperatures. Without it, the expansion would cause your block to crack and fail.
Although this head gasket is generally quite durable, it can still blow if your engine overheats for a prolonged period of time. A blown head gasket can cause serious engine problems, and will likely cause further issues if not addressed right away.
